ethical criteria

The Editorial Committee of the Journal of Innovation and Productive Transfer (RITP) will reject the publication of research that fails to meet the ethical criteria that all research must follow. The RITP embraces the definitions and considerations defined in the “Good Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” of the COPE Publications Ethics Committee.

Below is a summary of ethical behavior criteria in the stages of the publication process for editors, authors and reviewers:

Duties, responsibilities of the Editor and the Editorial Team

  • Ensure the confidentiality of the data of the authors in the review process.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of unaccepted texts and specify the method of their destruction.
  • Define and explain the criteria for accepting articles for review.
  • Avoid favor treatment to the detriment of other authors.
  • Have no conflict of interest in relation to the texts presented.
  • Do not make any use of the texts or the data presented in them, beyond those of being published.
  • Establish clear and objective review criteria to avoid the subjectivity of the reviewers.
  • Establish clear deadlines to respond to the authors about the acceptance or non-acceptance of the text.
  • Review suspected incidents of plagiarism and resolve any conflicts of interest.
  • Evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.

Duties, responsibilities of the Authors

  • Originality: Ensure the originality of the works and that they have not already been published in another medium.
  • Veracity: Provide truthful data and show that it has been collected in a technically correct manner.
  • Plagiarism or self-plagiarism: Do not make total or partial plagiarism of other already published works.
  • Authorship: Confirm that the authorship of the text really belongs to the people who sign it. The condition of author implies the active participation in the realization of the source work of the article presented, in the writing of the text and in its revisions.
  • Conflict of interest: declare any business association that may pose a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted article.
  • Sources: Indicate the sources of information used and differentiate those that have been used directly from those that have been used indirectly. The authors are responsible for obtaining the appropriate permissions to partially reproduce material (text, tables or figures) from other publications and to cite its origin correctly.
  • In the event that the article is accepted, the authors must commit to making the modifications within the stipulated period.
  • In the cases considered appropriate, present the documentation that ensures that minimum ethical criteria have been followed in the research, such as informed consent.

Duties, responsibilities of the Reviewers

  • Make a fair and objective review of the articles.
  • Clearly state the arguments for your assessment.
  • Do not accept articles to review in which there may be a conflict of interest that limits their objectivity (for example, being an interested party in the research presented in the article, maintaining a personal relationship -kinship...- with the authors of the text or being in a situation of dispute against it or the person or group presenting it).
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the information and data of the articles evaluated.
  • Evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.

The JOURNAL OF INNOVATION AND PRODUCTIVE TRANSFER makes the authors responsible for the originality of the contributions in the review sections and original articles, which is a requirement to be selected.

In addition, the journal uses a set of software to detect plagiarism in the articles and essays received. The selected programs are: Plagium, DupliChecker and Plagiarism Checker.
