Abstract

Anemia continues to be a public health problem that affects the daily lives of our children worldwide, this work aims to add to the contribution of studies that can help combat anemia in childhood, in this study they were evaluated 34 boys and girls between 4 and 10 years of age consuming a bar enriched with heme iron daily, followed up on 11 boys and girls who did not consume the bar (control group), capillary blood extraction was performed to determine hemoglobin (Hb) values, additionally the respective adjustment was made according to the altitude of the place where the study was carried out. Average Hb values were obtained in the first, second and third screening with results of 11.40 ± 0.54 Hb, 12.75 ± 0.95Hb and 14.00 ± 0.81Hb respectively, while our control group that did not consume the product maintained an average value of 11.85. ±0.32Hb. A correct diagnosis is the main indicator to present an adequate treatment for the improvement of the identified patient, since anemia is a frequent disease that affects the quality of life of the population, region or nation, in this study it was possible to help with the reduction of anemia in boys and girls in the District of Mache, La Libertad Region, through the indirect consumption of powdered bovine blood meal.
