Abstract

The leather tanning and dressing industry maintains its representativeness as a regional productive activity, however, its persistent problem is directed towards the analysis and effectiveness in the treatment of its effluents. Under this condition, the companies in the industry work continuously in the search for the implementation of corrective actions that allow them to comply with DS-010-2019-VIVIENDA, regulated by the corresponding organisms. Under this objective, the use of cacti plants as a natural coagulant in the removal phase has been analyzed. The applied methodology is divided into four (04) times, the first, the process of obtaining the flocculant from the cacti plants, the second, physical chemical analysis, third, spectrophotometric analysis, and finally, fourth, determination of operation variables. From the tests carried out, it was possible to obtain a removal greater than 70%, obtaining that the flocculant with the highest percentage of removal is the one obtained from the San Pedro cactus with up to 99%, which corresponds to the mixture of processes of 300 purge, 300 salt and 200 chrome; all this under the established and validated operating conditions, thus allowing compliance with the maximum admissible values of DS 010-2019-VIVIENDA.
